Our neighbors will be coming over for smoked pig and beer this evening. Let us not forget that the reason we are able to gather with family and friends in freedom is because of the sacrifices of the men and women who protect our nation. Thanks seems so inadequate.

We had to visit the lakeside statues of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox in Bemidji today. Yes, that’s my father groping Paul’s genitals — acorn, meet your tree…

I also like that Jesse was wearing shoes and a tank top that matched Babe. Nice color coordination.

We stayed in Katie’s room, watching the end of today’s race at Martinsville while Laurie and the girls ran to the biggest Indian rez in Minnesota, also known as the Bemidji Wal-Mart. 

We had cake with Katie in Bemidji today to celebrate Grandma’s birthday, which is actually tomorrow.
