Katie got her cap and gown the other day, so we took the opportunity to snap a couple of pictures (check out the graduation photo set on Flickr here. We’ll be adding to it, so check back often). She got her Honors sash yesterday — we’ll have to snap some new photos with that on soon. Graduation for the Class of 2010 at Eastview High School is June 5. If you can’t be there, you can watch it live online at district196.org.

The Girls

Sisters forever

Sisters forever

As promised, here is a picture of Katie and Jesse before Katie’s Homecoming dance. Jesse wanted me to point out that she is all made-up because she and Allie were in the middle of a “weird makeover” downstairs when I called her up for pictures. Right.

Anniversary Meal by Jesse

Chef Boy-R-Jesse

Chef Boy-R-Jesse

Jesse decided to treat her mom and dad to an anniversary meal today. She made us spaghetti, salad and garlic bread. It was yummy and better than a fancy restaurant meal (I didn’t have to pay at the end of the meal — and no snooty waiters). The food was wonderful. Then the girls actually cleaned up and stacked the dishwasher. After I was released from cardiac ICU, Laurie and I thanked Jesse for the best meal of the year so far.

A Quick Xmas Slideshow

Are Wii Having Fun Yet?

If they ever make Wii an Olympic sport, I have a couple of contenders for the U.S. team. Look at that concentration on their faces. Better hope there’s no doping test required, because I think these two have definitely been mainlining dark chocolate, a performance-enhancing drug if there ever was one…

Merry Christmas!

We got to sleep in a little this morning (yay sleepy teen years!) before getting up and opening presents. The girls, as usual, pulled in quite a haul from Santa — I think St. Nick just saw all the snow in our neighborhood, said, “To heck with this,” and dumped the rest of his load down our chimney. The girls’ big present was a Wii game console, which Laurie bought over the summer, not being sure how scarce they would be at Christmas. The girls were with her when she bought it, but she wrapped it and made them wait six months to open the game. Cruel. Cruel, but fair. Jesse kept forgetting about the hidden game, but Katie would start singing “Wii wish you a merry Christmas” to remind her and Jesse would get all upset. Ahhh, the deep, lasting bonds of sisterhood I keep reading about in all those Oprah books….

So the pictures above show the girls feigning surprise and excitement when they opened the game. Kind of like the fake smiles in our family photos…

New Additions to the Family

No, Dad, it isn’t what you think…. The girls bought a fish tank and a bunch of tropical fish over the weekend. I’ll let them tell you all about their new pets, but thought I would post a photo of the proud “parents.”
