Hey, where's Otis?

Keep on truckin'

Laurie, Jesse and I spent the day at the Dakota County Fair (poor Katie had to work). We spent a lot of time in Dakota City, a collection of historic buildings, set up as a turn-of-the-century village. It is an under-appreciated, under-visited and woefully under-marketed gem. The village also suffers from a lack of volunteer re-enactors. Looks like someone needs a social media injection and some fresh marketing eyes. We also had fun watching the rabbit obstacle course and checking out the antique car show, the wolf exhibit and the fair food trailers. It was a pretty small fair, compared to some of the county fairs we were used to back in New York, but certainly a good warmup to the state fair in a couple of weeks. Have you ever been to the Dakota County Fair? What’s your favorite part?
