Wish You Were Here?

Guess we’re not barbecuing tonight…

The weather outside IS frightful, but the kids found the recent snowstorms delightful — that is until we made them help us with shoveling the driveway. We got about six inches of snow over the past two days, but the temperatures have been mild for Minnesota in December — low to mid 30s during the day. We exceeded the normal December monthly snowfall of 10 inches, the first time we’ve done that in three years. Ahh, Minnesota…
We call the picture above “Doo Doo Doo, Lookin’ Out Our Front Door” (with apologies to John Fogerty).

Too Much Turkey?

Here I am zonked out on the couch. Must have been all of the tryptophan in the turkey. Someone check my pulse or hold a mirror under my nose.

Why do people hunt for fun? No one nose (knows) why. I think it is a waste of animals. It makes me mad to think people are out there hunting animals, especially when some are endangered! Sometimes poachers even kill elephants for their tusks and sell them illegally! I can understand if you hunt because you need the food, but if it is just for fun, I think it is dumb.

Home for the holidays
We stayed home for the holidays this year, after traveling the past several years. We had a great family Christmas. Art cooked a turkey breast and all of the trimmings. Katie and Jesse teased to open presents on Christmas Eve (apparently a Rackliff and Coulson family tradition). Laurie wanted to wait until later in the day on Christmas so that the excitement wasn’t over in a flash first thing in the morning (a Wyant family tradition). We compromised — the girls opened one present each on Christmas Eve, opened their stockings and presents from Santa at daybreak on Christmas, then opened all the rest after breakfast. Ho ho ho.
